The Epona Integrated Riding Foundation is a non-profit foundation that is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of youth that are academically and/or socially vulnerable. The foundation offers a Stay in School Program that is linked with an Equestrian program for youth aged 5 to 17. We provide individualized tutoring and equestrian lessons. We service areas including Point Saint Charles, Lachine, Lasalle, Verdun and Little Burgandy. We are presently looking for volunteer tutors to commit to tutoring one hour a week in the Pointe Saint Charles or Lasalle area and for volunteers to help youth in the Equestrian program (two Saturdays out of the month.) The SPCA is seeking individuals who want to give their time to help animals, involve themselves with all their heart through their concern to improve the environment for animals in our society and to help save more lives.

Volunteers with a dog, or other well-trained and calm animal that is used to people, are needed to visit with seniors living in the residence.

Volunteer bookeeper/accountant needed on a quarterly basis to maintain expenses, donation receipts and prepare summary report to Revenue Canada. Requirement: knowledge of the Quicken computer accounting system.

Bénévoles demandés pour le centre de jour de la résidence afin d'offrir de l'accompagnement au besoin, des visites d'amitié (lors desquelles le bénévole peut être accompagné de son chien ou son chat ou jouer de la musique), de l'animation d'activités de loisirs, de l'accompagnement des résidants au restaurant, etc.

Volunteers are needed to act as docents at the Ecomuseum. Docents take a training course to learn about the flora and fauna of the region and about how and why the St. Lawrence Valley Natural History Society was founded. The main role of a volunteer docent is to share the knowledge gained during the training course by hosting guided tours of the Ecomuseum for groups of all ages. Requirements: volunteers must be 18 years of age or over, must enjoy working with children and be patient and dynamic. The English-language course will be given from February 28 to May 8, 2008, on Thursdays between 1 and 4 p.m., or from March 1 to May 10, 2008, on Saturdays between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Volunteers needed to raise a puppy during its first year in order to prepare it to become a guide dog. The puppy must not be left alone for more than four hours a day.

Volunteer drivers needed to pick up and bring cats to the designated veterinarian or to a foster home.

Bénévoles recherchés pour soutenir le travail de l'animalerie : tâches ménageres, nettoyage des cages, promener les chiens et les brosser. Qualités recherchées : être à l'aise et aimer les chiens, débrouillardise et efficacité.

Bénévoles de 16 ans et plus demandés pour travailler au refuge (nettoyer, nourrir les animaux), comme conducteurs et pour faire du travail de bureau (aider avec la levée de fonds et les relations publiques). Qualité requise : capacité de travailler en équipe.
