Federal Election - You have the power to make change!

benevoles_canada.jpg
As we move toward Election Day on October 14, 2008, organizations like yours have an opportunity to meet the candidates in our ridings and to inform them on issues that are relevant to our sector.

As volunteers and leaders in volunteerism it is critical that politicians and candidates seeking election hear from you. You have the power to make change. We are asking for your help to approach the candidates for election in your riding.

Volunteer Canada is asking each candidate in this election to sign our Pledge to Volunteers. Please take the time to bring this to the attention of candidates that you contact in your riding.

As well, within the next week, Volunteer Canada will post an Election Toolkit to help guide you in your efforts to communicate with the candidates in your riding. The toolkit will include messages on the importance of volunteering to our agencies and our communities. Please use these tools to inform our future Members of Parliament of the essential role that volunteers play in building healthy, quality communities. The last page of the kit is a feedback form. Please take the time to let us know who you've spoken with so that we can follow up after the election.

We will let you know as soon as the toolkit is available.
You can find all of your Election 2008 tools here.

Thank you for working with Volunteer Canada in maintaining a healthy and vibrant voluntary sector.

Sincerely,

Ruth MacKenzie
President
