A volunteer-based service

Meals-on-Wheels depends on volunteers who want to be involved in their community. Over 2000 participate in Montreal-area Meals-on-Wheels groups, offering an invaluable service to thousands of their fellow citizens.
A traditional Meals-on-Wheels group, often operating out of a church basement, is generally made up of about 20 volunteers who work in alternating teams of seven or eight: a cook, two assistant cooks, a driver, two servers and two dishwashers.
An executive committee composed of a president, a vice-president, a secretary, a treasurer and a liaison officer makes sure the group functions smoothly.
Many of the newer Meals-on-Wheels groups and Lunch Clubs are based in community centres for seniors which depend on volunteers for a variety of services.
