Association of Blood Donation Volunteers - September to November, January to April 08

Are you dynamic ??

If so, why not give a few hours during week days (from 11:30 to 13:00) for The Association of Blood Donation Volunteers.

From September to November and January to April, the organization needs at least 4 groups of 4 volunteers who will give promotional bookmarks and recruit blood donors specifically in colleges and universities campuses around Montreal.

Quebec Breakfast Club - mornings

Every morning, throughout Quebec, the Breakfast Club brings 15,000 children two essential elements to start their school day on the right foot: a nutritious breakfast and a nourishing environment.

The Club is currently seeking four volunteers per school, per morning, for various schools in the South-West district of Montreal. Volunteers work from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m., before classes, helping prepare and serve breakfast to children. The Club's volunteers can't count the number of precious smiles they get every day from the kids, or how many great friendships they strike up with their colleagues.

Walkley Community Centre - Saturdays

The Walkley Community Centre and its United Families Association is a friendly place serving the residents on Walkley Street and surrounds neighbourhood.

For the Saturday Club Program, the Association is looking for 18 to 20 volunteers to take care of tutoring and other activities.

La Maison des enfants - flexible

For over 15 years, la Maison des enfants de l’Île de Montréal has provided after school activities for children aged 5 to 12. Some kids come in just once in a while, others have been regulars for years.

La Maison des enfants is an environment where kids can be listened to. They can talk freely about their joys and successes, their worries and fears, in complete confidentiality.

The Starlight Children’s Foundation - flexible

The Starlight Children’s Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families. Working with more than 800 hospitals worldwide, the Foundation provides an impressive menu of both in-hospital and outpatient programs and services.

Pause Famille - flexible

Pause Famille supports young parents and their children under 6 years of age and is looking for help in carrying out some of their regular activities: a clothing bank for children and pregnant women and a toy library!

Moisson Montreal - flexible

It's simple : Moisson Montreal is the largest food bank in Canada!

Every day for over 20 years, this organization has sought to provide for a fundamental right: the right to be well nourished by having access to a variety of good quality, nutritious food. Its mission is to work in partnership with community groups to promote food security for people in difficulty on the Island of Montreal.

Moisson Montreal proposes a wide variety of weekday volunteer activites for all tastes and interests, for groups of from 5 to 40 persons. See the flier to have a better idea of its projects.

Perspectives I High School - flexible

Perspectives I is an alternative high school for fifty 14 to 16 year old students who need a small school with hands-on activities and more attention to meet their needs to be able to succeed.

There a many ways your group can help: in organizing a sports, art or music event, building things and/or introducing the students to various careers, etc.

Chinese Family Service of Greater Montreal - flexible

This organization's mission is to help the Montreal Chinese community with their integration in Quebec society.

A group of 5 to 10 volunteers could take part in the language exchange program, help with fundraising and/or the organization of activities for children or the elderly.

The Benedict Labre House - flexible

The Benedict Labre House is a Home to feed the body, Mind and Soul for individuals in need. It is a volunteer driven charity, deeply rooted in Montreal's community values and partnerships. The House offers an environment that encourages positive change through various individualized support programs.

There are many volunteer opportunities at the House and they can be personalized for each group depending on experience, skills and interests. An example is a Meal team: food preparation and service for 50 to 150 people.

Welcome Hall Mission - flexible

Welcome Hall Mission is a non-profit community service organization, with a history of more than 114 years. It offers a second chance, a brighter tomorrow, respect and care to each of the men, women, youth, and children who come through its doors. The Mission's work caters to everyone regardless of their origins or beliefs.

If your group is available on a weekday (preferably on a Tuesday or Friday), you could help with food or clothes sorting, or serve at the food bank!

Accueil Bonneau - flexible

Would you like to help the homeless get control of their lives? The Accueil Bonneau would be a great place to get involved in a group volunteering activity. From serving meals to helping out with the clothing bank, the organization offers a variety of volunteer activities and a flexible schedule.

Centre multi-ressources de Lachine - flexible

The Centre multi-ressources de Lachine is a great place for local people to meet each other, get acquainted, share common interests and get involved in various activities. The centre's goal is to promote the autonomy and integration of isolated persons and to provide innovative services to this clientele.

The organization is now looking for a group of five to ten volunteers to help renovate its day care center. If you have a full day to spend there (weekdays or weekends), come and lend a hand cleaning and painting the room, from floor to ceiling!

Dare-Dare - flexible

DARE-DARE is an artist-run center supporting research and encouraging innovative approaches, exploration and diverse modes of presentation.

The group is looking for a group of six volunteers to distribute promotional material eight to ten times a year.

Corporation Félix-Hubert-d'Hérelle - flexible

The Maison d'Hérelle, an alternative community resource for people living with HIV / AIDS, puts the emphasis on humanized care and services and encourages mutual support.

The organization is seeking a team of five volunteers to work together in a friendly atmosphere doing a major clean-up of its supervised apartment located in the Côte-des-Neiges district. Jobs include cleaning closets, bathrooms and windows. The work will be on a weekday and lunch is provided.
