Rob Lurie - Public Voting 2019

Rob Lurie
Rob Lurie nominated by the Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors

"Our volunteer is at the heart of appreciating the difference one person can make in the lives of others by giving of oneself.

Rob Lurie has been a reporter at CTV News in Montreal for the past 22 years. Rob has covered many of our city’s biggest stories including the ice storm, the biker wars, and the black market babies. He has also been the recipient of the prestigious national RTNDA award twice for his feature of the Liberator plane crash during World War II and for his election series, “Campaign Trail.”

Rob has volunteered to MC our annual Volunteer Recognition Party for the last 10 years. As MC, Rob has brought a level of recognition to our dedicated volunteers that profoundly exemplifies for each one of them that their individual contribution to the lives of seniors in Montreal does have an impact! Rob takes the time at our Recognition Party to meet each of the volunteers, talk with them, take photos and sign autographs. In his annual speech, Rob shares personal stories that are inspiring. Our volunteers look forward with anticipation to his presence and his acknowledgement! As such, Rob took it upon himself to invite Mutsumi Takahashi twice to join him at our Party as a surprise for our volunteers! Rob feels he cannot do enough to recognize the work of volunteers, so he brought along his cameraman on three occasions for his CTV News features!" - Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors
