Recruiting Volunteers

Please read the guidelines below before filling out the Volunteer Request Form.

While the VBM serves as a link between potential volunteers and over one thousand organizations (including non-profits, para-governmental agencies, schools and hospitals, etc.), our recruitment services are available only to official VBM Member Organizations.

If you have renewed your Membership and paid the annual fee, thank you!

Your volunteer requests will be:

  • published in the "I Want to Volunteer" section of our web site, which is visited over one thousand times each day;
  • sent to roughly sixty media outlets (digital, print, television, and radio);
  • dispatched to educational institutions and private corporations;
  • broadcast on electronic bulletins boards in the métro system;
  • provided to suitable volunteer candidates who are interviewed in-house by our counsellors.

Guidelines

  Please let us know when you accept one of the volunteers we refer OR when a request is no longer active.
  Please call us every six (6) months to review your requests - 514.842.3351
-

As noted in the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Agreement, we do not have a bank of volunteers on hand. Plan your needs in advance in order to give us enough time to recruit the volunteers you need.

-

A separate request form needs to be filled out for each volunteer position.

-

Be clear & precise - give us details about the volunteer's tasks, schedule (time & days), language requirements, etc.

-

The more we know about your organization, the easier it is for us to find you the right volunteer(s), so send us copies of your brochures by Canada Post.

-

We do not refer volunteers to private addresses; organizations must have a place of business.

-

We are happy to post your volunteer requests on our website, with your authorization to do so. Check off the appropriate box on the form if you would like your request to be posted on our site. If not, only those people who come to our offices for interviews will have access to your volunteer opportunity through our database.

-

Our placement counsellors meet members of the public who are interested in volunteering. During a 20 to 30 minute interview, a counsellor helps a potential volunteer match their interests, aptitudes, schedule, language skills, and so on, to appropriate volunteer opportunities. Note that the VBM does not do in-depth screening or run police checks on potential volunteers.

Give us a call at 514.842.3351 if you need any further information.
