Le projet intitulé Power-up ton potentiel est une initiative à la fois humaine et technologique qui permettra aux aînés participants d’approfondir leurs aptitudes technologiques ainsi que leurs compétences parlées et écrites en anglais. Le projet comportera une rencontre aînés-étudiants où les aînés auront la chance d’approfondir leurs compétences informatiques et les étudiants d’échanger avec les aînés en petits groupes afin de déterminer l’histoire qu’ils écriront en tandem par la suite au moyen de tablettes électroniques qui seront fourni. Throughout the course of the program, the volunteer mentor will work in a team setting and be assigned to a Plusone Support Worker, qualified in youth interventions, who will be responsible for offering guidance and support where needed. The relationship between mentor and youth lasts one year during which they meet on a weekly basis to participate in mutually enjoyed activities of their choosing, at their local YMCA. The mentoring relationship is built upon a foundation of shared interests that hopes to facilitate the creation of a positive connection between mentor and youth.
