Interested in mentoring a youth in your community? As a volunteer mentor in the Plusone program, your capacity to connect with youth, your leadership, your passions, and your ability to adapt, will prove to be the crucial aspects required to build a positive and caring relationship with a youth. Throughout the course of the program, the volunteer mentor will work in a team setting and be assigned to a Plusone Support Worker, qualified in youth interventions, who will be responsible for offering guidance and support where needed. The relationship between mentor and youth lasts one year during which they meet on a weekly basis to participate in mutually enjoyed activities of their choosing, at their local YMCA. The mentoring relationship is built upon a foundation of shared interests that hopes to facilitate the creation of a positive connection between mentor and youth. Requirements: Experience working with youth (aged 10 – 17) and/or capable of forming and maintaining a positive rapport with youth and adolescents.
