Support services for people aged 55 and over experiencing problems with alcohol, drugs or other substances or with gambling.
Volunteers needed to visit people 55+ with substance abuse problems, including alcohol and medications. Visits take place in the client's home or in a public place (café, restaurant, etc.) depending upon the availabilities of the individual. Volunteers will receive two half-days of training on topics pertaining to geriatric substance abuse. Qualities required: ability to listen, empathy, perseverance, patience, and enthusiasm. The organization is especially encouraging people with First Nations heritage to volunteer in order to better respond to the needs of this community. | Place of work: Chez le client
