The Volunteer Bureau of Montreal is looking for a passionate and committed individual to fill the position of Volunteer Services Coordinator.
Who We Are
VBM is a community organization dedicated to promoting volunteering and supporting its practice. Our mission is to increase the number, diversity, and quality of volunteers to strengthen the capacity of organizations and enhance the well-being of those who get involved. Our volunteer services include:
• Receiving and managing volunteer opportunities from member organizations and applications from aspiring volunteers. • Offering an online matching platform and a personalized volunteer placement service. • Providing information sessions on volunteering and support for volunteer managers in the community.
Your Impact
As the Volunteer Services Coordinator, you will play a key role in the organization and continuously improve the volunteer experience in Montreal. You will oversee VBM’s volunteer services in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to strategic planning to better align volunteer supply and demand.
Main Responsibilities
1. Management and Development of Volunteer Services
• Coordinate and ensure the quality of volunteer matching services through the online platform and VBM’s volunteer placement advisory service. • Contribute to improving and developing volunteer services to better align supply and demand. • Support Volunteer Managers of member organizations in creating opportunities, recruitment strategies, and volunteer recognition. • Participate in the creation of newsletter content, social media posts, and website updates related to volunteer services.
2. Management of Internal Volunteers and Administrative Support
• Recruit, train, and supervise the team of approximately (8) Volunteer Placement Advisors. • Develop and update policies and tools for volunteer supervision. • Ensure the onboarding and integration of volunteers within the permanent team and organize volunteer recognition activities. • Prepare activity reports and statistical assessments to analyze the impact of services and support decision-making.
3. Representation and Partnership Development
• Engage partners and community members to better identify their needs and enhance VBM’s volunteer services. • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and other stakeholders by participating in various initiatives, projects, and events. • Promote VBM’s mission and services within the community and foster an inclusive culture among volunteers and partner organizations.
Position Details
• Permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week). • Salary starting at $30/hour, based on VBM’s pay scale. • Office located in Montréal, with in-person work and remote work on Fridays. • Competitive benefits, including 8% vacation, extra paid holidays, personal/sick days, floating holidays, pension plan, group insurance plan, and an ERAP. • Position to be filled as soon as possible.
What We Are Looking For
• University degree in social sciences, community development, human resources management, or a related field. • At least 3 years of significant experience in volunteer management and customer service. • Good knowledge of the Montreal community sector. • Ability to work independently, collaborate in a team, and engage with various stakeholders. • Strong organizational and planning skills. • Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy, dynamism, and creativity. • Strong oral and written communication skills in French and English. • Proficiency in Google Suite and database usage. • Ability to analyze and manage data to assess service impact.
